Castle Nut UNF Bright

Boltmasters Imperial UNF Castle nuts has the slotted section is turned down slightly, to enable the split pin to be pinned against the turret so the pin does not protrude.
Castle nuts are used in applications where vibration or motion might undo the locknut. Castle Nuts are often used with a bolt with a pre-drilled hole, where a cotter/split pin can be used to secure the fixing and prevent movement.
